Head of section: Gil Ada

Description:

The Environment and Sustainability sector works to increase the environmental awareness among IDC students and faculty. Our ultimate goal is to integrate environmental thinking in campus and lead to positive change, with the aim of replacing harmful behaviors. The sector is dedicated to values of social justice and environmental sustainability and aims to integrate them into a variety of activities in campus. The sector carries out various projects and events each year, with the aim of providing students a platform to get involved in the sector's activities.

This past year, a huge range of exciting projects were carried out in campus: IDC has been certified a "green" campus;  the establishment of the "Underwater Clean Up Project" along Israel's shores; urban agriculture workshops; and the construction and development of community gardens in Herzliya, in cooperation with Herzliya municipality and the city's residents, and more.

In addition, the department has set a target of integrating students from the RRIS as well as the Herzliya Municipality in its ongoing work, in order to expand its spheres of influence and contribute to the social integration of students on campus and in the city of Herzliya in particular. The sector's success is not measured solely by its individual activities, rather by its success to reach and influence a variety of crowds around campus.
